About Us

We live together in the Inland Northwest. Home is our patch of farm/forest in the Selkirk Mountains in Idaho Panhandle, where we have a log cabin and are trying to get fruit and nut trees and gardens growing — practicing our highland/dryland permaculture skills — so that we can be somewhat self-sufficient.

Our reason for setting up this site, is that we wanted to share all of the research that we do and notes that we’re taking, so that other people don’t have to spend as much time searching for information as we did. We try gather the best content from around the web, share our own research and opinions, and to consolidate it all here in one place.

Our hope is that you will find things here that you never would have come across otherwise — and even if you would have come across them, we hope that having them all here in one place makes things more convenient for you.

You’ll find information, discussion, and resources for a wide variety of topics, including: ecology, sustainability, foreign affairs, organic agriculture, economics, political theory, and many others. We’ve done in-depth research on these topics, and have extensively footnoted and referenced all of it, so that you can quickly find high-quality resources on a topic, and so that you can verify the accuracy and correctness of what we are saying. We’ve also aggregated a large number of news stories from many sources, and hope to make people aware of important things that are happening in the world, and suggest things that we might do about them.

Our hope is that when you have a question on one of the topics we cover here, that coming here in addition to a search engine, will make your search faster and more fruitful.

We also want to learn from you — we’ve tried to make communication with us, via both article comments and emails, as easy as possible. If you have a good article, website, or book, you’d like to share with us — please let us know about it.  If you’ve found something wrong, have feedback to help us improve the site, have a question, etc., please contact us.
